Homemade Dog Treats

We’re going away this weekend, and while Izzy is going to have a very capable babysitter, I always feel guilty when we  have to leave her behind. So, to make up for it, I made her some peanut butter dog treats.

These are super easy, and Izzy seems to think they are delicious!

Peanut Butter Dog Treats

adapted from the brown eyed baker

2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup low-fat milk

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together.

Make sure to let your dog lick whatever utensil you used to scoop the peanut butter…

Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead. This dough is really easy to knead, and not sticky.

Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness, and cut into biscuits. We don’t have any cute dog bone-shaped cookie cutters, so I used a small juice glass.

Place on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, until golden brown. Cool on a rack and store in an airtight container.

They don’t look pretty, but Izzy has been whining at me non-stop since she ate one, so I think that means they’re good. Let’s hope she’s good for her babysitter!

  1. I hope Izzy gets lots of cookies to eat this weekend. They look good enough for people to enjoy. Make sure you take her for a long walk when you get back. Be safe and have Fun!!

  2. Aw what a good doggy! I’m glad Izzy liked these! And yes, they definitely have to lick the peanut butter spoon!
